Against the backdrop of COP30 in Brazil, the Center for Climate Crime Analysis (CCCA) has launched a new Methane Dashboard, an interactive tool designed to make satellite observations of major methane emissions easier to explore and understand.

Rapid reductions in methane emissions are critical to limiting global warming in the near term. Yet identifying where significant emissions are occurring—and connecting them to potential sources and responsible actors—can be challenging. Satellite technology is changing what we know about methane emissions, providing increasingly detailed evidence of large emission events around the world.

The dashboard brings methane emissions data together in an accessible format, helping users explore where significant emissions have been detected, understand the associated emitting sectors, and identify patterns that may warrant further investigation.

Its launch during COP30 highlights the growing importance of turning better methane data into action. CCCA’s methane work combines remote-sensing data with open-source investigation and legal analysis, translating technical information into evidence that can support accountability, advocacy and efforts to reduce emissions.
